BENDING GIRAFFE is a series of four artworks in which a cut-out giraffe stands on top of the work, with its legs spread and its neck bent. The neck and head disappear into the picture plane, as if the giraffe is reaching down to drink. The surface functions as the water’s edge.
At the bottom of the work the following text appears:
“I MIGHT BE NOT THAT FLEXIBLE BUT I CAN BEND JUST ENOUGH TO REACH EXACTLY WHERE I WANT TO.”
The image refers to the remarkable moment when a giraffe drinks water: an awkward, almost comical posture. The combination of form and text leaves room for multiple interpretations 😉
