SAD CHIMP is a tribute to the iconic primatologist Jane Goodall, whose lifelong work profoundly changed the relationship between humans and animals. At the center of the piece is the chimpanzee from the famous video in which Goodall embraces him. In this interpretation, the chimp sits alone on a bright red cage, a figure both poignant and unsettling. On the cage is the text: “WHO YA GONNA HUG NOW…”, a direct and confronting question that marks Goodall’s loss and underscores the emptiness left by her absence in the world of animals and their protectors.

SAD CHIMP ist eine Hommage an die ikonische Primatologin Jane Goodall, deren lebenslange Arbeit die Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Tier tiefgreifend verändert hat. Im Mittelpunkt des Werkes steht der Schimpanse aus dem berühmten Video, in dem Goodall ihn umarmt. In dieser Interpretation sitzt der Schimpanse allein auf einem leuchtend roten Käfig – eine Figur, die zugleich bewegend und verstörend wirkt. Auf dem Käfig steht der Text: “WHO YA GONNA HUG NOW…”, eine direkte und provokante Frage, die Goodalls Verlust markiert und die Leere betont, die ihre Abwesenheit in der Welt der Tiere und ihrer Beschützer hinterlässt.
