FOLLOWING EYES

Following Eyes is a form of interactive art where the artwork appears to follow the viewer with its gaze. Frank Willems creates paintings with expressive eyes that create a surprising connection between the artwork and the person standing in front of it.

Combining humour, curiosity and a touch of illusion, these artworks challenge the traditional relationship between viewer and painting. The eyes create the feeling that the artwork is aware of its surroundings, making every encounter personal and unique.

Following Eyes is an interactive art concept based on the powerful connection created by eye contact. Humans are naturally drawn to eyes, and Frank Willems uses this instinct to create artworks that seem to observe, follow or engage with the viewer.

Through carefully placed perspectives, expressive characters and playful compositions, these paintings create an illusion of movement and interaction. When the viewer changes position, the experience of the artwork changes as well, creating the feeling of being watched from different angles.

These artworks combine contemporary painting with visual storytelling and psychological perception. They invite the viewer to question what is real and what is an illusion, transforming a traditional painting into an engaging experience.

A Following Eyes artwork creates a unique relationship between the artwork and the viewer. Instead of being a passive observer, the viewer becomes part of the scene and influences the way the artwork is experienced.
