TROPHY ROOM (COMMISSIONED) – Painting

This work was created on commission for FHM as part of a series of trophies presented to the winners of the FHM Top 50 in 2020. The recipients included Joy Beune, Yolanthe Cabau, Jay Jay Boske, Nathalie den Dekker, Sylvana IJsselmuiden, and Yasmin Karssing.

At its center is an award figure inspired by the iconic Oscar statuette. For each trophy, the figure was modified and reinterpreted to reflect the category in which the recipient was recognized. By combining a familiar symbol of achievement with category-specific elements, the series examines themes of recognition, status, and identity. Each piece functions as a unique object, connecting the individual accomplishments of its recipient to the broader cultural meaning of awards and public appreciation.
